10/20/05 - iWebfolio

ITT Team 3: Technology announce that the College of Education is conducting intensive electronic portfolio pilots in two program areas this Fall. The participants are using iWebfolio, which will interface with the University's new Spectrum portal via single sign-on (SSO) to the product some time later this calendar year, and will result in easier access to the hosted iWebfolio website.

The two selected programs are Secondary Education (teacher education pilot) and Instructional Design and Technology (non-teacher education pilot). All faculty associated with these programs will be actively involved in developing the portfolio template. They will also be incorporating performance assessments into their program/courses (as identified in the COEAS) and helping students build their portfolios.

The intention of the College of Education is to greatly expand the use of electronic portfolios in the spring, with the goal of having standardized templates and 100% faculty and student participation for all teacher education programs by Fall '06. Not only will our students have "showcase" portfolios reflecting their growth as professionals, the College will have access to aggregate data never before available to us. A leadership team has been formed and assigned to organize and plan the pilot schedule and, subsequently, the College-wide rollout of electronic portfolios by the Fall 2006 semester. Asst. Dean Marty Alberg will be facilitating the initial steps of the pilot project.
